my email is still being hijacked as I am still receiving emails from DAEMON telling me my mail is delayed or undeliverable, after view it i discover i am sendig out viagra and kraft ads… Why does avast not prevent this. If they cant even keep my email safe why do i have it
a) you will get daemon emails that have been faked, with attachments purporting to have come from you to trick you into opening it to see why and bingo infected.
b) Changing your password will have zero effect if there is an undetected or hidden spambot on your system as it doesn’t use your email program but its own.
c) A friend, colleague or contact with your email in their address book could be infected and the malware forges the senders email from the emails in their address book. Unfortunately some dumb emails servers and DAEMON just bounce the email back to the forged From address, really dumb.
d) Set the Internet Mail provider to High sensitivity and if you do have a spambot on your system, it will detect multiple identical email in a time period and alert you to it.
What is your firewall ?
As that should also be a means of blocking unauthorised outbound connections.
didnt understand number one… but the other, I have windows vista windows defender firewall… Spambots are not detected and dealt with by avast then? My mail is on high and always has been, the mail i refer to from daemon or whomever, saying it is from me, is delivered to my junk mail folder. But it is still being delivered which means for everyone I get saying it was undeliverable, there has been probably god knows how many thathave gone through right? If avast does not fix that problem do u know what program does if changing pw does not help? Thank you for the link for phone numbers, while I am ure it would be fine for you to call the prague in the czech republic, it just wouldnt be cost effective for me from Missouri Minute by minute. Also, the ones I open up that are supposedly from me, I never open attachments, just the email itself to see whats up. And i dont alway do that either. but never ever attachments. aint that dumb!
Your number one answer, I think you are trying to chastise me for bringing up the website issue in the general issues forum if i translated your answer correctly. I could be wrong though . If that is the case, … really? I am wrong for bringing it up in the general all encompassing issues forum? Then maybe under the topic heading after general topics, post: except ones I dont want to deal with
You should have MORE than just an “antiVIRUS” program for security . Most of
us, including me, recommend having at least 2 “on-demand scanner”
antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN programs, such as Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
( www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ) and "SUPERAntiSpyware
( www.superantispyware.com ) , BOTH of which have FREE Version(s) .
Windows Defender isn’t a firewall. So what does the Windows Control Center say your firewall is ?
It should be capable of blocking unauthorised outbound Internet Connections and the XP one doesn’t if using Vista firewall that does but is disabled by default…
If the Internet Mail is set to High then the email spam isn’t coming from your system or avast would have alerted.
It doesn’t matter where the email is delivered to on your system Junk (presumably you have a filter) or Inbox, it is dumb email servers bouncing undeliverable email back to a faked From email address. They haven’t got the slight clue where it originated as they don’t check but bounce it back to the From address which is easily faked.
Or as I mentioned completely fake emails intended to deceive you into opening the attached to find out what the problems are. Many would open the attachment, that is the point, the fact you don’t is very good.
These problems have nothing to do with avast and regardless of AV would be the same.
I’m simply stating a fact that I have no problem in visiting or logging on to that URL, some do and there are are topics relating to it in the forums. So I’m not concerned with raising it, why should I as I’m just an avast user like yourself.
I also said that reporting your problem here because it is just as effective as there is nothing else that they could do about this that can’t be dealt with in the ‘support’ forums, no chastisement, just a statement.
The applications that Spiritsongs suggests should confirm that there isn’t a spambot on your system sending out spam.
