Every now and then my emails will re-download (TB on win7). I was advised by Thunderbird that the anti-virus interferes with the download to the point Thunderbird does not get to save the state information of POP downloads. So was advised to disable email scanning in the Anti virus. I did this and it seemed to have solved the problem. Having updated the programme recently, I didn’t re-set TB to disable the email scanning and was then confronted with myriads of old emails once again! I am worried that with the email scanning disabled I am not protected? - and why should this be necessary? Any advice would be much appreciated by this non-geek! Thanks
- Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
Thanks for your reply. Free version. Program version 11.1.2245. Definitions version 151212-2. Win7 64 bit. Also have superantispyware. Had avast for long time. Hope that helps?
- Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
Ok done that. Guess I’ll let it run (with Mail Shield ticked) for a few days and see it it solves the problem. The only difference seems to be the definitions version is slightly updated but the programme is the same as I originally had So don’t understand what the problem might be. Ah well, appreciate your help - thanks very much!
You’re welcome.
