I just got a pop-up to all an “Emergency Update” to run. It is directed to: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\setup\emupdate\9a24884a-1984-4134-a47c-31bb695f26b3.exe /check
It also says AVAST Software Version 8.0
What is this?
I worry becuz I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client and have heard that a few people had their TB messed up fo avast up-dates.

hi, I typed in “EM updater” in the search box at the top and got no info, no list of previous posts, nothing. what do i type in the search box to find out what this thing is I’m supposed to allow to run when i re-boot? i wish avast wud TELL you what IS the emergency and why you’re being asked to run an unknown file that might destroy your system. who knows? i don’t like to blindly allow files to run.

A perfect example of why one should never assume. If you meant Emergency Updater, the using EM Updater will not work.
An old adage is, as you may recall, “Never assume, as it makes an ASS of U and ME.”
