Running SOA 1.3.2.21 licenced for 21 clients undtil November which have software version 8.1.0.1490.
Clients (2 Win 2008 R2 servers, and 18 Win 7, 1 Win XP workstations) all show up in SOA and appear to communicate regularly.
Some clients, both servers and workstations, drop their licencing and enter trial mode so don’t update their virus definitions. Deploy job within SOA doesn’t achieve anything as the clients are already installed. I’ve tried pasting the avastlic file directly into the client itself, which is accepted but only works for a few days before the client drops into trial mode again.
I had this happening to me and it was more of an installation issue at the time I was deploying.
Take the particular workstations that are showing up in Trial Mode and do a complete uninstall of Avast and re-boot.
Then I would make sure you have the most up to date Installation software package that you create inside of SOA. (Make sure you create the package and download from it)
Install using it and they should communicate and register fine.

Make sure your firewall settings are all in check and WMI instrumentation is working properly, just for the heck of it.
