wheneverr i try to start a system scan with 4.6 home version i get an error message saying 183 cannont create a file when file exists what do i do?
Well that is a windows error and I can’t imagine what file would need to be created by avast that already exists when you stsart a scan.
Does this happen for all scans, explorer, right click scan also ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
thanks for the quick reply. i havent got repair onm my add/remove but i found the search button at the top of the page and got a bit of info on the error. i restarted the computer and it is now working fine.

Since you do not have the Repair option, are you using XP or not?

Do you have any options when you click Change/Remove (or does it only give Remove) like, Change Uninstall or Update ?
I thought these options were available for all.
