Hi, when I run a boot time scan I am getting messages on lots of files, each says error 42006, does anybody know what this means??
Can you give us a few examples of the file names? (where this error is reported)
A full list of avast error codes is at http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=4818.msg65672#msg65672 in the User’s FAQ wihch may be of help now and in the future. There is also a lot of other very useful information there.
I am getting them in
file C:\SFP\devices\midi\midi merger4.dev error 42006
file C:\SFP\devices\midi\midi merger8.dev error 42006
file C:\SFP\devices\midi\midi monitor.dev error 42006
file C:\SFP\Presets\PitchSEQ.pre Error 42006
These are a few, there were more and they all come from my Creamware Pulsar Sound cards directory but i have also got these ones

File C:\ system volume information_restore{5ce0afa3-495f-b875-bab6d8bae208}\RP80\A0017358.dll Error 42006
Hope this helps
42006 error is related to AVAST_OFFLINEFILE File is not present on drive > migrated to offline device !!!
as you can see in the link posted by David.
Maybe temporary files that can’t be scanned by avast!
The ones from system restore could be ‘deleted’ disabling this feature, booting and enabling it again.
If you scan the same files using Simple User Interface (with maximum sensitivity) - do you get the same errors?
No need to post twice…
