I migrated my passwords to the new Password Manager right around the same time as the most recent update, so I’m not sure which function is giving me an error.
The message keeps popping up, especially when I sign in to my pc.
I tried reinstalling Avast, to see if it would fix it, but it didn’t help. I still get the same error message.
Has anyone seen this error, or know how to fix it?
Thanks
When you say you reinstalled avast how did you delete the original version or did you just run and overight it.
You may need to run the un installer Avast Removal Tool | Download Avast Clear | Avast as an overight or normal reinstall might not clear out whats causing the problem.
I did the uninstall through Programs & Features in Control Panel, then reinstalled through the download from the web, from the Avast site. The problem still existed.
I can try doing the uninstall using the Removal Tool, then Download Avast.
In case it helps, I left a screenshot of the version I’m using.
Im on premium but have the same build as you.
Ive read over the years a lot of people have had issues when removing using programmes & features as it doesnt remove everything so when you reinstall the issue still persists.
also might be better to log into your portal account (if that actually exists with the free version) and download again from there.
Aswhook.dll and DISM.exe issue is reported several times on this community. I don’t know why this happens but as long as your Avast saying you’re protected, you won’t need to be worried about it.
Also I don’t understand why so many users want to run dism.exe on their computer, running dism.exe shouldn’t be a daily habit.
If dism.exe is the issue, and shouldn’t be run on a daily basis, how would you go about turning it off. When I downloaded Avast, I didn’t make any changes to the installation. I simply set the time I wanted the scan to run, and Avast was set to go.
I’ve used Avast for several years, and this error only recently began to appear.
