Error: Cannot Connect

Gah!

I have been using Avast Home free edition for YEARS without any problems until the last few days. It bagan when I got a torjan from where ever. So I did the whole routine of immunizing and updating Spybot S & D, and running a virus check with Avast. Spybot found the usual spyware, so I fixed the problems, and Avast found no viruses or other junk.

I also ran the uninstallation tool found on the Avast site, but still can’t connect.

This is the log entry I get:

This is all greek to me, as I am not a hardcore computer dude. Could someone pleasse offer some help?

Can’t connect or you can’t install?
If you download the full installer from the site (not from CNET), will it work?
Which is your firewall?

Both >> i try to run the installer that I DL’d here at Avast, and I get the cannot connect error, and then it won’t install.

ps >> sorry for my craptastic spelling in my previous post, wow… :-X

I r S-M-R-T!!!

I tried the installation process again, and this time I clicked on proxy settings, and wouldn’t ya know it, Avast was trying to use IE to connect with, tsk tsk tsk…

I clicked Direct Connect, and badda bing, it installed.

Long live Avast, and down with stOOpid Internet Exploder…

:stuck_out_tongue:

You just don’t understand IE

Even when you use Windows Explorer it is using IE to display things as it is integral to the operating system.

Welcome fellow Canadian.

I’ll be happy when Spring comes as I like warmer weather.

I bought a nice new Winter jacket yesterday that will keep me warm.
