Error message after Avast install

After installing Avast while in admin mode, now whenever I log on in NON-admin mode, I receive the following msg: “Windows cannot access the specific file, device or path. You may not have appropriate permission to access the item”. The name of the item is hp/bin/copytodef.js I have never received this msg b/f this install so am wondering if it is something that Avast has affected. I can close the warning and continue to log on but I’m not sure if I’m stopping something from loading that should be loading. Would appreciate any thoughts regarding this. Thanks very much.

Hi

After installing Avast while in admin mode,

When You Say - Admin Mode
Do you simply mean…
You were logged into an - Administrators User Name
Or!
The Main Administrator … Vista - Is the first name that was ever created on the computer.
Or!
Are you meaning something else?
e.g.
The Administrator that you see in XP - Safe Mode

hp/bin/copytodef.js
I presume your computer is a - hp - Hewlett Packard ?

I am logged in as THE administrator, which must be done in order to install programs - I am not in safe mode. Yes, my system is Hewlett Packard. I am running Win xp, sp3. Thanks for response.

avast does not block access to clean files and does not change access rights.
Can HP support give a little help here? ???

I decided to uninstall the firewall and that cleared up the error msg on boot. The Verizon tech told me that my router had a built in firewall so therefore did not need a software firewall. Guess I’ll go with that. Thanks for all input.

Which was your firewall?
Router firewall does not provide outbound protection (afaik).

It was Comodo - I uninstalled and re-installed and now everything seems fine. Thanks again.

Well… from time to time, Comodo is guilty ;D
