Error message with newsgroups

Hello,

I’ve seen several topics about the same problem, but the solution doesn’t seem to fit the (new) Avast 5. So i’m going to ask again!

I’m downloading via newsgroups (Eweka via Spotnet). Never had a problem, but since a day the error message pops up saying:

“502 concurrent connection limit in avast! exceeded(pass0, processes:SABnzbd.exe[50]) (502)”

So after browsing a few topics, I found the Avast5.ini file, but I can’t find anything regarding MaxConnections. And when I try to change it, it says its a forbidden action.

Could anyone help me?

We’re at version 7 meanwhile.

Oh how time flies, lol.

I’ve checked it and I have Avast 7 indeed. Guess I was confused about the file “Avast5.ini”.

Still, the question remains: How to fix it.

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • Which version…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which News-Client…??

Maybe this will answer your question:

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=63272.msg534677#msg534677

Avast Free v7.0.1426
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
I also have SuperAntiSpyware running
The news-client is Spot-Net, connections from Eweka.

I’ve searched my entire computer for the file EmailShield.ini…it’s nowhere to be found.
In another topic they spoke of “Avast4.ini”. I found “Avast5.ini” in my Avast install folder, but theres no MailScanner or EmailScanner in the file, and when I try to change it, it wont let me.

Could help.
@OP: Please read this.

Sorry, I found the EmailShield.ini file…what do?

You’ve to disable avast! self defence…!!
Then change the settings.
Then reenable SD.
