when i install Avast.
Microsoft outlook express gives me an error for "concurrent connections limit exceeded"once opened
Has anyone experienced this?
soes anyone have e remedy?
What was your previous antivirus product and how did you remove it?
The machine was/is running Norton 360 never had another A/V software
The conflict was with Outlook express to which i migrate my e-mail
I could send mail, but could not recieve…every time i tried to retrieved mail i get the
concurrent connections in Avast problem
Norton 360 includes an antivirus component.
Running avast in a system that is running Norton’s antivrus component will cause conflicts of the kind you are seeing.
I assume that you have paid for Norton 360. If so then you should continue with it to get your money’s worth and uninstall avast.
If that is not the case then let us know and we can offer further advice.
Please post the full text of the error message as that frequently indicates what file/process is hogging the connections.
As Alan mentions Norton 360 includes an AV so it to might be trying to scan your email using up the concurrent connections.
If you want to get rid from Norton, that lefts behind a lot of things (files, folders, registry keys…), I suggest:
- Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Norton Removal Tool for Windows 98/Me. Boot.
- Install avast! (or repair the installation) and boot.
Norton 360 is a suite.
Removal is a more complex choice for the poster and requires thought about replacing the other things that would be lost by a total removal of Norton 360 (hence my comment about further advice).
It is possible the user may have a choice about the components that get installed but I doubt it. The removal tool would almost certainly remove all of the product not just the antivirus component.
Thanks Alanrf for the explanations.
Another reason to be far from Norton 360… it’s a suite…
