Hi essexboy, here is the log as requested.

What is Avast reporting ?

Have you tried a repair of Avast

Avast still the same, can’t repair and wont move to chest.

he means repair of avast, not repair of malware
contolpanel > ad / remove programs > avast > uninstall > option to repair, wait some minutes and reboot

posting just malware names tell us nothing.

what files where detected?
what location…full file path?
what type of scan did you do…any default settings changed?

a screen shot of the scan result always help…

Hi essexboy, after several repair attempts, still the same. Can’t repair and wont move to chest.

What file is it unable to remove to the chest ?

Many thanks, as ever, essexboy, but after another Malwarebytes update and a full scan, it appears to have sorted itself out.

Could you post the last Malwarebytes log please

No problem.

They were all in system restore, how is the computer now ?

All seems to be fine, booting up at normal speed and performing normally. Nothing seems (so far!) lost or damaged.

If all is well tomorrow, let me know and I will tidy up

Hi essexboy, the laptop seems fine again and I didn’t actually go through the Kaspersky step as Malwarebytes seemed to have done the trick.

Again, many thanks for your instant, successful support.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
