Everything Working (for a change)

I was having problems with my system crashing, especially when burning DVD’s.
We tried everything, ran memory diagnostics, & basically, I now understand why
Klingons have such interesting foreheads. It’s from frustration. Poor wall!!!

Anyhow. I have installed new os, XPsp2, newest avast, new burning software,
& for the most part, I am trouble free. Sometimes IE6 won’t open a page, I will
look through the forum & see what others tried.

Basically there was NO hardware problem.
Possibly the combination of a fresh install ofthe OS
& the lastest Avast seem to have made some difference.

Good to hear that everything is working.

What error mesage are you getting when you can’t open a page in IE?
Have you tried a different browser (say firefox as it isn’t an IE clone, using the IE core) with the same web page?

Basically, I can open 1 window. If I click on a link that refers me to another window,
it will sit there until Avas tells me it has timed out. Sometimes I can open 3-4 before this happens.

I have google search integrated. Google will do the search, but I can’t access any of the links,
IE just sits there spinning its wheels.

I’ll keep snooping.

If you do as suggested this should confirm if this is a problem across the board or a problem with IE.

Also try disabling the WebShield provider and see if that helps
