Is it possible to make Avast display a list of all files that are scanned by the Standard Shield when a particular application is started, so that I can then add these files to the list of files not to be scanned?
For example every time I fire upp IE6 for the first time some 20 files are scanned. I’d like to stop this…

Sure, setup the logging to yuor wishes and read the log file.
I’m afraid that a Professional version of avast! is necessary to be able to change the reporting settings of the resident protection task.
Additionally, I think it would be rather hard to exclude all files from such an application as IE6 - you would probably end up exluding the Windows / System32 folder - which may be the most important place to be scanned (from the security point of view).
