Experiences with Soluto

I’m beta testing Soluto: http://soluto.com/
It’s a boot time monitor (like the old BootVis for XP, do you remember? http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/BootVis.shtml).
It can give you a graphical view of what is making your boot time slower.
You can remove entries, you can receive help. It has a history of your boot times.

I used the old bootvis in XP and didn’t find it that useful. Hopefully you will find it more useful.

What I wish more is that it does not become a shareware in the future.
That bothers me most: freeware that become shareware and you’ve tested it for them ::slight_smile:

+1

Works well though.

But there is a lack of configurability… How could you disable it? It’s always running, each boot…

It's always running, each boot...
Disable Live Boot Process

I now see that I can not stop it at each boot. :frowning:

It does not hinder system performance that I can tell.

I’ve got two BSODs, I don’t know if their related to Soluto.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0x0000000A (0x00000076, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x82C7C028)
0x0000000A (0x0000002E, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x82C85A5B)

Right now, I left the beta testing of it.
Send an email to support. No answer. Bad signal.
Something is telling me it will leave the beta and become shareware…

Seven does that already, no graph but you have the detail of drivers slowing down your boot times + boot durations etc… in the event viewer “overview and summary” ;D and although I haven’t done it yet, you can most likely generate a graph out of it with “performance monitor”.

Windows 7?
Where?

I said it in my post Tech, in the event viewer “overview and summary”

Can’t find it… maybe my Portuguese Windows will have other path to that…

I should have added that the complete list of logs are in “Diagnostics-Performance” >>> “Operational”

path is :
Event Viewer >>> Applications and Service Logs >>> Microsoft >>> Windows >>> Diagnostics-Performance >>> “Operational”

faster ;D right click “computer”, and in the left pane, at the bottom, click on “performance information and tools”, then, always in the left pane, on “advanced tools”, and then: on “view performance details in Event log”.

Logos… I can’t work with such a tech-bla-bla of Windows Events…
Comparing to Soluto graphic information, Windows is incomprehensible… I can’t understand and follow the logs.

Trying again I could see it working… Booting three times and running ok.
Maybe the problem (reply #7) was not related to Soluto because I’m testing three beta programs at the same time.

Other screenshots (sorry, file size does not allow multi images in the same post).

After it finishes its job

The options to pause (remove from automatic startup and let it only manual) or delay.

The final situation is that you can analyze how long does avast and any other startup entry is taking from your boot time.
You can set startup delayer (http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page=2&show=startdelay) to start loading your applications after that.
Enjoy, get a clean boot
