I would be lost without SnagIt too, but I’m a bit miffed that 7.2.5 is free, I bought version 7 and paid for the upgrade to version 8.2.0.

I too always change the auto update checker, for different reasons though I like to retain control of what is going on on my system. One exception I allowed auto update checks is avast as that can’t establish a connection.
Allowing a check for updates when it’s under your control doesn’t relinquish your rights.
For those on dial up like you are David, this may be a pain.
For those on DSL and/or Cable etc this option is a convenience and affords you the opportunity
to keep your programs up-to-date.
For most items, I don’t allow auto updates. I usually check the option to be notified when a new version is available.
Where can i find those versions??

You can download trial versions, but not free 7.2.5
Follow the link, fill out the registration then download the file.
They send you the registration# which you apply from within the program.
There is no free version. This is the commercial version which needs to be registered.
