I pasted the fake virus test in notepad and Avast did not detect it, manual scan did detect but ran another file scan this morning and Avast did not detect it at all. Auto detect did detect before weeks ago but its not now, please can you advise me of any problem and solution.
What exactly does it mean “pasted in notepad”?
Did you save it on disk? Under which name?
How exactly did you scan it?
I copied the fake virus (X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*) from the website and pasted it into notepad on my laptop as you would copy and paste anything, the website is a known IT security site assisting and providing information on latest security issue eicar.com, the fake virus was not auto detected by Avast and was detected when i did a manual scan. I saved the notepad document in my documents folder saved as a document as you would save any simple document. Do you have any idea as to what is going wrong as Avast had auto detected the fake virus months when i did the same test.
I guess you are the one who has asked for it on facebook? If you want the txt file to be detected, you will have to do two things,
- Remove the txt extension from file system exclusions
- Select scan all files in file system shield expert settings > scan when writing.
But since txt cannot be executed in anyway, it is added in the exclusions(igor?).
