Fake warning from Avast gmail.com e-mail ?

I just got in my Yahoo Inbox more than 500 copies of the message posted below. From the message that I should turn off Avast Mail Scanner, it seems like a fake message from Avast. I deleted all these messages.

Please advise and provide any help you can. Thanks.

Warning! A virus has been detected. This text and title was edited to prevent the virus from activating itself. Also, the address was hijacked to prevent the virus from hijacking into your contact list. If you don’t care and want to view this message, please disable Avast’s Mail Scanner and Avast! Outlook/Exchange Scanner by right clicking the “a” icon on your taskbar and selecting Pause Provider, you should see a line of things. Select Outlook/Exchange and Internet Mail.

This is not mail from the Alwil here, the maker of Avast, but from a rogue site.
Nothing to do with the “real” Alwil.

Quite clever attempt at a scam. Do not follow the advice given. Delete the mails and forget about them.

Mark it as spam so it won’t happen again.

I answered in your other topic, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=45946.msg386005#msg386005. Please just post once about the same problem, it just duplicates effort for those trying to help, thanks.

Thanks. I already read your helpful reply. As I said there in the other topic, I am a newbie just getting to know my way around this forum. Anyway please read my reply to you in my other topic about a new twist in this fake e-mail issue I have. Thanks again.

You’re welcome, see your other topic another I have made another reply.

A lame attempt though
