I recently downloaded a program called EasyAntiCheat and avast claims it has virus on it and therefor won’t open it.
I’m familiar with the program EasyAntiCheat, it has no virus on it, I would like to know if there is a way to make avast stop blocking the program so i can open it.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
avast5 - Create a folder called Suspect in the C: drive. Now exclude that folder in the File System Shield, Expert Settings, Exclusions, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the File System Shield scanning any file you put in that folder. Now enter the chest again and Extract the file to the Suspect folder and upload it to VT.
If only GData and avast detect it - GData uses avast as one of its two scanners so counts as 1 detection and almost certainly an FP if only those two detect it.
Send the sample to avast as a False Positive:
Open the chest and right click on the file and select ‘Submit to virus lab…’ complete the form and submit, the file will be uploaded during the next update.
Well avast isn’t the only AV to consider it at the very least suspect, though many of these detections are heuristic or generic (as it avast’s) and some are related to encryption, so given this is meant to be an anti-cheat, there is a possibility that it could be the encryption method that is considered suspect.
I believe it has something to do with the fact that the anti-cheat is supposed to redirect you to the server that you want to play on, but other than that i can’t seem to guess it
