False Positive and crash.

I’m getting a false positive on a file on my computer. I KNOW it’s a false positive because I’ve scanned it with a dozen applications and Avast is the only one that is tagging it a virus. When I try to add it as an exception, Avast UI crashes. Either I need to find a solution to this massively annoying problem or I need to take Avast out. I need the program it’s flagging—it can’t be replaced. The company is aware of their “false virus” status and has been in touch with Avast before about it. Apparently Avast isn’t going to take it off the virus list. I’ve tried reporting it as a false positive, but nothing ever gets done. I can’t pack it and send it because it’s a program that I cannot redistribute. Besides, Avast had it to take apart before and it hasn’t fixed this problem. I’m at the end of my wits here.

Thanks for any help

Laura

How about telling us what program exactly is that, and what virus is reported?

Welcome to the forums, chaser.

As Igor suggests, it would help to post the name of the program and the name of the virus found.
