I searched for “false positives” and got zero results, which I thought was a bit odd.
However, I just did get what I assume to be one after an upgrade of DivX Player. Is this indeed a false positive or is there a threat there?
The upgrade came from http://www.divx.com
If it is a false positive, perhaps it can be eliminated from the threat list.
Thanks
I have latest DivX Player 8.2.2. No alerts by Avast!.
You can send detected file to Virus Total to be scanned by 40 + scanners. Report results here. Copy/paste VT result URL. Thanks.
An Avast scan of the Program Files directories did not find any threat but when it was installing Avast told me that there was something suspicious about “DivX Plus Player.exe”
When I start the program manually I get the message again. See attached.
Odd, since it does not find anything during the scan.
If you’ve used divx.com in the past and you trust them, I’d just add DivX Player to your exclusions. If you’ve scanned your system and everything seems okay, I’d say you’re good. There is the possibility that divx.com sent you a nasty even if they’ve been fine before, but I’ve noticed Avast does give a lot of false positives, especially the Behavior Shield and Auto Sandbox.
Odd, since it does not find anything during the scan.no.....suspicious is not the same as finding anything..... read the message again.... especially the tex in bold/black
and then from the dropp down menu…run normal
