Also if you are intending to use Avira AntiVir on the same system as avast there is likely to be conflict as has happened before as they are both resident AVs.
No. The user can manage both antivirus installed and Antivir working as a second, non-resident, scanner.
Just need to tweak the installation and avoiding avast to detect Antivir services.
By the way, these files are a ‘backup’ of the Antivir installation folder… I even have Antivir installed right now.
The files are, indeed, false positives if you submit them to VirusTotal
I’m aware that they can be run but you need to hack antivir/system/registry to make it possible, they won’t play nice by default. For most people this will cause issues they might blame on avast not the fact that they are running two resident AVs. So I don’t recommend running two AVs that require hacking just to work together, because as soon as you do you are then almost bound to offer help to assist them to do it.
Really just responding to someone who is already in the process of trying the combination. Even Vlk has done the same with no words of warning against it
That is exactly what I was doing, letting someone who has just downloaded antivir of the potential pitfalls, now they are aware if it (if they weren’t already), they can now decide whether to proceed or not and if so how.
I guess we would have to wait for Maeng’s response.
