false positive ?

phone: Huawei g300, rooted, custom ics rom

avast! Mobil security
app version 2.0.2750
definition version 120915-00

Trojan detected :android basebridge-z[trj]

for the app Badoo downloaded from the Google play store.

its been fine previously, is this a false positive or has something got a hold of this app.

thanks.

Same problem here. ???

I’m having the same situation: Badoo pk just updated today automatically and instantly Avast detected it as a trojan. Didn’t happen before with previous badoo apk versions, just pop up today sept 16th, 2012.
It would be good if Avast confirms this either as a real infection or as a false positive. Gonna avoid installing the app for now.

same pb with previous version (not the last) . De install, re install : same !
Android 2.3.5 HTC Explorer

Any reaction from Avast??? I :frowning:

Hi,

I just tried it with virus definitions version 120916-01 and Badoo is not being detected. Can you try again/post what virus definitions you have?

Filip

PS: By “Badoo” I mean this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.badoo.mobile .

It was detected with virus definitions version 120915-01.

Can you try again with 120916-01 (current)?

Filip

Same problem with current definitions! This is annoying. >:(

Is it the app I linked? Because I don’t get any detection on that one.

Filip

Yes, app link is correct. Very strange… Perhaps different virus scanner engine?

Actually, no. I installed the newest public version of the app. In Settings-About I see:

App version: 2.0.2750
Virus definitions version: 120916-01
Number of definitions: 1321

Filip

I have identical version numbers. What now? :-\

What is your Badoo version? Mine says 2.2.1 with size 7304 KiB in App Management in avast!.

Also you can try rebooting your device and running the scan again.

Filip

Same Badoo version. I immediately uninstalled it again after I got the Avast warning. I think I have rebooted since the problem first ocurred. Avast tech support should really take a look at this problem because there are a lot of Badoo users… I’m a bit tired to do more research, this should be Avast’s job. :frowning:

Was a FP, fixed in the newest virus definitions.

Filip

Everything fine now with latest definition. Thanks to Avast and Badoo.

Hi Avast,

We have the same trojan report for our Android app: basebridge-z[trj]
Our Android app is called Wandoujia (China version) and SnapPea (intl version). It is available for download at m.wandoujia.com and m.snappea.com

No other anti-virus service that we’ve used detects a trojan. Can you please tell us how we can work with Avast to fix this issue?

Kai

I just heard back from the Avast team and it looks like this problem is solved.
Thanks guys!
