I use Hitman Pro for extra security and today it found that this file [aswNetSec.sys] is a malware.
I proceeded to delete it and then on reboot my PC could not run the wireless adapter driver and the Avast Firewall. I restored to a previous point and it all was OK.
I Googled this file and found it belongs to Avast.
Is this just a false positive or is it a trojan virus?
Tks for responding.
It is a false positive by Hitman.
… i thought so!!..
… Thanks for the swift reply!
Have a nice Day.
It certainly is a false positive detection by Hitman Pro.
We have a number of volunteer malware removal specialists and the most senior of those, an Instructor at http://www.geekstogo.com/ has seen the damage that can be done by Hitman Pro. The general advice is not to use it unless you are relatively experienced and have a good knowledge of what is on your system. Either that or only use it under guidance.
Is this just a false positive or is it a trojan virus?Trojan and virus are two different things, so it can not be both ;)
