Hi, Have you seen this recently, could it be false positives?
On a HP laptop with XP Pro.
HP compaq NX6325
Avast boot scan is finding these:-
c:\program files\sonic\digitalmedia plus v7\dla-install\dlactrlw.exe is infected by win32:dropper-gen File c:\sw setup\sdmpl\dla32_52\dla.msi\>disk1\file 0005. dofffb8d_996e43b18c32ff42f94ce70 is infected by win32:dropper-gen File d:\preload\base_26inp is infected by mppt97:shellcode-0[expl] ... And several in system restore
- Did a boot scan as regular maintenance and found viruses, think they were these same ones as above.
- Formated the laptop as it was quite full, using XP PRO recovery discs for the computer, ran avast, viruses were still found with Avast Boot Scan. MBAM and Defender found nothing.
- Then formatted again with a non-OEM version of XP home, removing the partitions, ran Avast boot scan - same viruses show up.
- Formatted again with recovery discs for the computer (going back to XP Pro) and the above viruses were found with Avast boot scan.
- No viruses found with Avast full scan.
- MS Safety Scanner found nothing.
- The only things that are on the computer at the moment are the programs from the recovery discs, avast and MS safety scanner.
Does it sound like a false positive?
Not sure if this is a connected issue with possible FPs?
On another XP laptop, with an epson printer,
These were found with an avast virus warning pop-up when the printer/scanner was used:-
Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 win32:evo-gen e-fuirhle.dll eswiaud.dll
Many thanks for your thoughts and opinions.
