What could be the possible reasons for the fans of my Dell XPS note book running soon…cause I hear them within a span of approx 15 mins……CPU usage is around 10%…clogged vents/applications?
Thanks!

I think you answered your own question.
Give it a good cleaning to see if that will help.
Then, try reducing the number of programs running at start-up.
Really…that was just a gut feelin…anyway thanks CharleyO for confirming…would you need to have a look at the task manager & msconfig to give your expert views…btw do you think Dell QuickSet appl should be run on startup?
Thanks again!
You can also download a copy of SpeedFan (Free) which will let you use whatever temperature sensors are in your computer to control your fans.
Give me a HJT log from just after notebook start-up and I can tell you what’s running and what doesn’t need to be running with references.
HJT log on start up for your expert views!
Thanks!
Hi btw I am running the note book on High Performance Battery Plan…attached pic from speed fan software.
There is not really a lot running at start-up. So, it is more likely that the notebook needs a good cleaning.
I have marked with a link only those that can be safely removed from start-up.
Of course, it is up to you as to whether or not you want to remove any of them from start-up.

Select Automatic fan speed in SpeedFan and use Minimize to leave it running.
Learn how to use Configure to set the temparatures of GPU, Temp1, Core0 and Core 1 to the normal operating temperature not the little red flames.
My Windows 7 system using SpeedFan.
Thanks a ton CharleyO for your expert opinions…I shall get the vents cleansed by a tech…in the mean while shall try disabling these services & see the effects…how Logitech webcam, Perfect Disk, works with out them on startup.
Yokenny the speedfan doesn’t display as yours…I did check the the auto…in configure don’t see any fans in the category…in 10 mins of start up this is how it is.
It’s got a Nvidia 7200 GS 256MB Video card & WUXGA 17" display…but at times the dispaly really gets a bit draggy…may be some cause its a fresh install or to configure the page file??
Thanks anyways!
Well, they will not work unless you manually start them which is why is suggested you have to decide which ones you do not want to run at start-up.
You could make shortcuts for them on the desktop to start them only when you need them.
CharleyO do I need to set the services to manual from auto for PD agent & LVComSer.exe…there are 2 LVComServices in Task manager?
How to change the notepad, sttray.exe services?
Thanks again!
Found the LVComService but cannot find the notepad service…Is it wise to uncheck Nvidia services…I think the vents are clogged as despite unchecking some the fans still run at the same times approx…as to speedfan…what should be the min & max temps for the GPU, HD, CPUs…cannot configure the fans.
Thanks again.
How does one configure the Clock settings in Speedfan…have no info about the Mainboard or Clock?
I do not mess with clock settings.
