File delete after scan?

When I finished scanning my computer I noticed a file was appearing corrupt so thought I would delete it as it wasn’t that important it then asked to delete to recycle bin or permanently, I chose recycle bin and it said it had done that yet later I checked the recycle bin and it wasn’t there, what could have happened?

Why would you want to delete it ?
avast may have reported it corrupt because it can’t unpack it, so you would be deleting a file which isn’t a problem.

Just ignore the file which avast can’t scan, deletion really isn’t an option you will one day come a cropper, where you have no way if recovering a deleted file, just as in this instance.

As to what happened I don’t know, this is one of the dangers of deletion, its gone.

The file may not have been corrupt. I’ve had large archives reported like that. I think avast just couldn’t unpack it. What was the name? It just may have been too big for the recycle bin.

No it was a video file I had downloaded nothing to do with the system but I was just curious as to why after having told Avast to send it to the recycle bin it didn’t

Was it in use?

No, it said it was successfully deleted but I selected it to be sent to the recycle bin but it wasn’t there?

Hmmm… Is it in the original place? I mean, does avast fail to delete or it ‘erase’ (trashed) the file definitively. Is it in another folder of the computer? Something like \Data\moved

It removed it permanently even though I selected move to recycle bin and I cant find it any other folders, I dont need the file but I thought I would bring this to the Avast teams attention in case it is a bug

Is there anything on avast logs related to this deletion?

What was the original location? (the full path)
Was it in an archive maybe?

cant really say for sure as its not logged as far as I can tell, but I brought it up primarily so the Avast team can double check its functions in regard to the delete file process after a scan

Well, that’s why I’m asking about the full path…
Deleting to Recycle Bin won’t work for files in archives (because it’s impossible to return the file back from the Bin into the archive).

Sorry mate, it may well have been in an archive but I cant see any logs for the action I took so I will just have to be aware of that for next time
