File Name

I still have ‘Avast4.setup’ in my firewall filter rules and the firewall says, it does not exist, and so it won’t allow
any updates.

Can someone please advise, once the initial setup of avast is completed, should there be another file name in my firewall filter in order to allow updates ?

Regards.

Avast4.setup is a file created during an update. It is a temporary file.

Thanks Eddy,
But can you advise what name should be in the firewall to allow updates, because the one mentioned does not
do it ?

Regards.

I’ve the following AVAST!-Files in my rules:
ASHMAISV.EXE
AVPUPD.EXE
AVAST.SETUP

First, it is avast.setup, not avast4.setup.

To create the rule, the easiest way is probably to create a temp file avast.setup (e.g. empty file), let the firewall create the rule and delete the file.

BTW what firewall are you using?

Thanks
Vlk

BTW housi AVPUPD.EXE doesn’t belong to avast - sounds like an AVP (Kaspersky Antivirus) updater to me…

It could also be this:
New Bagle Worm Variant Surfaces… W32/Bagle-I attempts to terminate several anti-virus and security-related processes: ATUPDATER.EXE AVWUPD32.EXE AVPUPD.EXE LUALL.EXE DRWEBUPW.EXE ICSSUPPNT.EXE …
You can get more information HERE.

Thanks for pulling attention towards AVPUPD.EXE. I changed vom KAV to Avast! 2 weeks ago, and this was a forgetted rule. Is deleted now.
