ok, ive just had a read through quite a few posts but thought it best i start a new thread.
ive got avast internet security on 2 computers. both upto date with 7.0.1426
ive never had a virus or had any problems until today.
ive had no popup warnings or anything to suggest anything was wrong.
the only reason i noticed something wrong was when i used clean up utilities to do a clean up and it had a warning saying i had no firewall activated.
i opened both internet securitys and noticed on my older computer there was no firewall at all displayed in the left hand panel. so i turned windows firewall on just to cover me while i find out what the problem is. now i know the firewall was there a couple of days ago as i checked it.
i followed another thread for the usual repair but i get an error box with " error processing packages.please use full update"
im now going to try another update and then delete and start again.
question is how or why did somehow the firewall get totally deleted from the package and not give any warning as the computer has been on for about 5 hours today.
just in case you think im going gaga ive got a screenshot from both computers showing the firewall missing.
any advice would be appreciated.

gaming clevo laptop seem fine but heres spec
vista premium

things ive tried.
followed link on forum to download the latest package again but said 27 minutes to download 80mb so gave up.
i have a 2 year licence so the original link in my activation email is now dead so gave up on that as well.
in the end went to avast website and downloaded free version and then entered licence key and all sorted.
firewall is now back in the list.
would be interesting to hear from the experts on here what might have caused this in the first place.

After your third post you should’nt have to verify again, as for the firewall problem iv no idea why that happened and im not sure if there is a way to find out now that you have re-installed avast, was the troubled system an update from previous version or clean install ? was there a third party firewall installed on the said system prior to installing AIS ?
just coming upto the second year of the 2 year licence and the only real update its had is from 6-7
it was a clean install using the download link i received by email when i bought the software.
no third party firewall was on except today i turned windows firewall on when i noticed i had a problem.
the software was downloaded and installed on both laptops at the same time and my 2 grand lappy is running fine.
just done a full system scan and all is fine.
oh well, alls well that ends well. hopefully it will be as good as gold now.

I had Avast! FREE 6 and all of a sudden 2 days ago, my firewall was inactive.Tried to turn it on and it said Attention, your
system is not fully protected. Tried to uninstall AVAST! with ADD/REMOVE Programs from my Controll Panel and it would not remove. Did an uninstall utillity aswclear.exe in Safe Mode. Installed and purchased Avast! Internet Security 7 and my Firewall is STILL not active and will NOT turn on. I installed ONLINE ARMOR FIREWALL just to have something working. I did Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and found nothing BUT did a CA Yahoo! Anti-Spyware scan and there was this virus which I quarantined there called Kill AV. Location hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\imagefile execution options. What do I do now? I tried to do new post but can’t. Sorry to ask question here.
