Windows 7 x64.
I have the latest version of Avast, do not have the firewall installed but every day it puts up a popup insisting I should turn the Avast firewall on. I looked but did not find anywhere in settings to stop that. Nothing about the firewall here http://www.getavast.net/support/disable-pop-ups
- Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…?
Free version.
Most probably an ad, there’s no FW in the free version.
Most certainly an add trying to have you click it only to find that they want you too purchase AIS which has a firewall.
Totally ignore this very misleading popup ad if you have a working 3rd party firewall already.
Is this what you saw (click to expand attached image) ?
Yup, that’s what I see. Quite annoying.
Yes it is a pain and as far as I’m concerned damn misleading and has the reverse effect.
I have a high tolerance for crud like this it takes a second to kill and get on with what I was doing, but I’m not a gamer. Those Gamers can engage silent/gaming mode when gaming and won’t (or shouldn’t) get these ads during gaming. The only issue is that you won’t get any of the interactive security popups either.
If gamers play in full screen mode they are automatically in silent/gaming mode and they don’t have to remember to enable/disable silent/gaming mode before gaming.
We’re seeing the same crap … and getting tired of it. I just read through the replies above, but don’t see anything about turning it off, or reducing the display time to something like 1 second. So, is it possible to turn it off, or reduce the display time, or we just stuck w/ the crap on the screen until it goeas away on its own?
