Firewall Off

Dell Inspiron, Win10, Avast Security 2015

Overview has a warning : “Attention, firewall is turned off”

When I click “turn on”, it says “unable to start firewall”

Any ideas about what I should do to get FW turned on?

PS— this is just after an automatic update and restart.

Yes I have the exact problem, it won’t turn on after the update.

You all should do a ‘Repair’ of your Avast installations as it’s likely there are corrupted files.
Go to Control Panel/Programs&Features/Avast and click Uninstall/Change.
The Avast installation options screen will appear, Scroll Up/Down and select “REPAIR”.
Be sure to reboot when process in completed.

Thanks for the tip. It worked.

I’m guessing that the update was set for a private network with a firewall on the server, instead of the internet with firewall on my computer.

You’re welcome
