I purchased avast! Internet Security on 11 August. I was able to install without any problem and it was running well since last 2 days. When I logged in today, there was an error message on the avast! user interface showing that the Firewall is “Off” (I had’nt changed any settings). Upon clicking the “Turn on” firewall button, another error message “Firewall not available” was displayed. Then I tried clicking the “Fix Now” button on the >Summary>Current Status tab of user interface, there was no action. One more thing, when I clicked on the >Firewall>Application Rules tab, there is a repeated error message coming “AvastUI.exe has encountered a problem and need to close.”
I am using Windows XP and have the Windows Firewall turned on. But it was the same yesterday so not sure if that is the cause of problem. Has anyone else faced similar issues after the latest update? Could someone please help how to fix this issue?
what AV did you use before installing avast ?
have you uninstalled it ?
it is also recomended to run a removal tool to clear all leftovers, run it and reboot
so try to repair avast
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
Thanks for your attention. Before buying the Avast Internet Security, I had the Avast free version on my computer. I have the Windows Firewall turned on and have already tried turning it off but did’nt help.
I have also tried repairing from the Windows Add/ Remove but received an error message. The not okay portion of the error log is reproduced below. Any clues what could be wrong? Do you suggest I try removing the avast and re-installing?
