Yeah, so… Basically, as Avast free has no firewall, I need a third-party product (free one as well)… I have tried out Outpost, and that killed my system. Right now, I use COMODO (Firewall only mode), but it’s so bloated that everything runs slooooooow. Any other recomendations? Note that primarily I am a Linux user and I’m asking this for my noob parents, so it better be simple too.
You can try this: http://www.pctools.com/firewall/
Users reported it works quite well with avast and is rather easy to use…

try comodo or outpost, the two firewall are good but with comodo you have the full firewall unlike outpost which do allow you to do much with connected apps"you cant terminate connection as example "
PC Tools and Online Armor are the free firewalls popular here that you haven’t tried yet. Private Firewall has also been getting some good reviews lately.
I had a bsod while attempting to install PrivateFirewall…could be because I was updating MBAM at the same time ;D…although that’s very unlikely the cause …I’m not sure what happened, did you try that Firewall sded?
fail troll is fail
Haven’t tried Private Firewall myself; just saw some good comments at Wilders. And someone at Comodo recommending it over the shouts of “infidel”. Besides, I think it is even .ru .
the shouts of "infidel"
