I was wondering if any of you guys has ever come accross the followwing issue: I had avast antivirus installed side by side with online armor (free version of firewall), bought a licence for avast internet security, then uninstalled online armor before upadating to the full and paid version of avast internet security. everything is fine except that whatever the technician from iyogi.net (the dedicated online support service from avast working by taking remotely control of one’s PC) tried never allowed the firewall module of avast to start. I have already contacted armor support service by mail and several times installed/uninstalled online armor with some uninstalling soft without success. I googled the issue but haven’t got anything so far.
Download Online Armor Firewall again and install it again.
Reboot once into Windows Normal Mode (please do no skip this first reboot), and then reboot again but into Windows Safe Mode.
As per the instructions in OA’s website, use the Control Panel “Add/Remove Programs” applet from Windows Safe Mode to uninstall OA.
Reboot into Windows Normal Mode and test AIS. If for some reason it still is not working correctly, go to Control Panel “Add/Remove Programs” → Avast → Repair Avast. Once the repair completed, please REBOOT immediately before testing or changing anything else.
In addition, it might be recommended to delete the firewall rules too and re-create them anew (so to avoid additional potential problems).
From memory i think online armor leaves a few drivers installed, if you look in device manager and click view then show hidden devices im fairly sure there were two OA drivers there.
There is also some leftovers of OA here but you will have to take ownership of the files to delet them C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, you can run a search via the run bar for Online Armor and Emsisoft.
As was mentioned OA needs to be deleted in safe mode followed by two reboots to delet leftovers then run a seach for the items i mentioned and then follow ady4um’s instructions to repair avast, if the avast repair is not successful then try a clean install of avast.
