IM IN MAJOR NEED OF HELP I HAVE NO FIRE WALL IT ACTS AS IF THE FILE DOES NOT EXSIST
What firewall are you talking about and what if any errors are you getting ?
What is your operating system ?
OS: Vista
Error says firewall not available
In the internet security program it offers a fire wall i have a message saying im not fully protected and it says firewall is not on when i click turn on it says fire wall not available
i assume ur using Avast! internet security v7.
it seems that the installation did not complete correctly.
1st, try a repair by going to avast uninstaller via control panel → programs and features (or add/remove programs) → avast
if that does not work, i suggest
- Download a fresh Avast! 7 package from http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download (to reduce chance of corrupted install)
- uninstalling Avast! the normal way with windows
- run Avast! uninstall utility http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (please do it in SAFE MODE!)
- run the uninstall utility, one for Avast! 7
- reboot and go into safe mode once more, second time for Avast! 6 (this is only required IF u installed Avast! 6 on ur system before)
- reboot again, this time to normal windows mode
- install the fresh package
- please report ur findings here =)

OK, prior to installing avast! Internet Security (AIS), that is what you mean (?) did you have a firewall other than the Vista one installed ?
If not try a repair of avast:
Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
What antivirus application did you have before installing AIS ?
i fixed the issue windows firewall was keeping the firewall from turning on
thats weird, because Avast internet security v7 firewall is compatible with windows firewall.
(note this is only true for Avast’s firewall. most security suite’s firewall are not as such)
