Flacor.dat and Adobeflash player installer

Aloha,

I have two problems on my computer. Vista OS.

  1. Upon booting a message always comes up that says “c:\users\appdata\foaming\adobe\update\flacor.dat cannot be accessed.” This appears to be some sort of malware or virus…; and,

  2. Upon going to the Internet with his AOL access browser the computer asks to install ‘Adobe flash player installer’. Whatever I do, (install or stop the popup) The message still comes up the next time I start the browser it comes up again. It mentions this string: BDB57FF2-79B9-4205-9447-F5FE85F37312

Do you think you might be able to help me?

Thanks for your time!!

Windward

I don’t know whether this will be of any help, but this is what Avast’s On-Access Scanner is showing on my computer.

Hi Windward,

  1. Sometimes browser need installed with adobe flash player to run some web application.

You might to download Secunia PSI to determine which application need to update before you got infected just caused by your vulnerability.

Beside that you should able to use avast Free 5.0 to got advanced protection.

cheers,

Thanks for your response. Do I just follow the old directions on the link you sent to me, or do I have to upload a hi-jack this log, etc. and have them tell me what to do?
Thanks again,

The string … BDB57FF2-79B9-4205-9447-F5FE85F37312 … is related to a Windows or IE add-on installer which could be induced by the AOhelL request for ‘Adobe flash player installer’.
