I’ve already had two PNY 2 Gig Flash Drives for almost year.
They are plain ole Flash Drives … NOT U3 Flash Drives.
Yesterday I received my two PNY 8 Gig Flash Drives that I had ordered from Amazon.com.
They are the exact same Mini Attaché style as my other Flash Drives and I chose them specifically for that reason.
So far I’ve only tried out 1 of the two 8 Gig Flash Drives.
Instead of coming up as plain ole E:\ like my other Flash Drives, this 8 Gig Flash Drive came up as E:\UDISK. NOW … does that mean it is one of those U3 Flash Drives? I’ve never even been clear what the difference is with U3 Flash Drives. Heck, I think I had even read somewhere that they have been discontinued? HAVE U3 Flash Drives, the U3 Standard been discontinued? All I know is that virtually anyone I read about having had U3 Flash Drives … they hate them and end up immediately removing the U3 stuff.
This 8 Gig Flash Drive that I tried out so far had 7.62 Gig FREE and 4.00 KB Used.
I didn’t see any Folders there at the E:\UDISK prompt. Does any of this indicate that it IS a U3 Flash Drive? SHOULD I get rid of the U3 stuff? Are they problematic?
Do Flash Drives with a higher Gig capacity take longer to write stuff on them?
Or do U3 Flash Drives take longer to write stuff on them?
I’m NOT 100% sure, maybe it’s my imagination … but, I think I just barely notice that possibly this first 8 Gig Flash Drive took longer to get all my stuff on it that I had on my 2 Gig Flash Drives.
True, I have a very slow, underpowered computer and the USB Port is NOT High Speed, but I do by now have an idea how much my certain Folders take to copy onto my 2 Gig Flash Drives.
