Flash Mystery

I went to look at a site (referred to me in the thread DON"T BUY UNKNOWN PASTA). The site required Flash and told me I didn’t have the lastest version. I was directed to a Flash download place. Upon looking at the download…I was sure I already had that edition so did not download it again.

I went to my Install/Uninstall and uninstalled the player I had. Then went to my Tools Folder(where I keep my downloads) and reinstalled the Flash Player. It was then tested at the Flash site and said I had 7.019.0

I then went back to the site in the PASTA thread and played the game etc. just fine.

Here is the mystery. After doing the above I went back to the Install area and looked. The Flash Player is not listed. I have looked and looked. I also looked in the Windows Install Cleanup Tool that FFrank suggested I download to solve a Java install problem. There was no Flash listed there. I also ran a Belarc Adviser and I don’t see it listed there.

Maybe it is not supposed to be listed in the Install area? What if I want to uninstall Flash (I did this before…see above)?

Thanks.

Emma, If I am not mistaken the possible side affects of the Windows Utility Cleanup tool is that it can possibly cause a program to be removed if I read things correctly. It just may be that you will have to try and re-download and install Flash again, not sure.

I don’t think flash is listed in Add/Remove, is it? ??? ???

In IE it’s an ActiveX control which are not listed. In Mozilla/Firefox it must be a plug in, and these aren’t listed, are they? ??? ???

Macromedia Shockwave is listed in add/remove…

Hi FreewheelinFrank,

If she uses a program to clean up her Temp folders, she may have lost it, there’s where all the FF flash versions go, you get an alert when a new version is to be installed. Absolutely easy peasy to me.
Emma, do not worry, everything will be fine with your pasta necklace, and your latest Flash version.

Greets,

polonus

I can use the Flash ok…no problem there.
Perhaps reading so much in the forum makes some of us jumpy at every little thing. I mean I have looked at and gone places on my computer in the past several months that I would have never dreamed of looking at before.
Maybe ignorance really is bliss.

I think you might’ve uninstalled Shockwave and then reinstalled Flash.

‘many a mickle makes a muckle’ as they say.

You could always test your flash player on the following post:

Flash/Shock/Flash/Shock I thought they were all the same :stuck_out_tongue:

OK I see something that says Shock in my little Tool Folder. So I guess I will go back and reinstall it…because that must have been what I removed thinking I had removed the Flash. I probably…(not even going to try to explain the probably)

Yes, Bob, I have always been able to see that version of the Avast Gang…so something is working.
