I keep receiving a message from a vast in a blue window
An important update is ready to install.

I have done what I have been told. I go to a web page with flash content and under global settings Block all sites from storing and in Advance never check for updates.
Doesn’t seem to matter. Flash pursues me every time I switch my computer on. I have got Zone alarm and put Xs against all flash items.
What more can I do?

Why do you not want to update flash?
I would recommend to update for security reasons.
Updating is the most important thing to do if you do not want to get malware.
Thats why Avast tells you to update.
Open Avast, go to Software Updater. You can either install it there, or click on more details, and choose to ignore program.
If you don’t want Flash Player on your computer, go to control panel and Programs and Features, and uninstall it there.
I am intelligent I want updates when I want them. This is happening every day. I do not need this. Now it is saying Adobe Air, Internet Explorer. I have had enough. I wish to be left alone to do things for myself not repeatedly told. And I still have to click on the annoying message To accept as well. Even if I wanted all these updates it could do that without the annoying question.
I would like to turn this feature OFF PERMANENTLY.
Do you happen to use Windows 8 ? Adobe Flash is integrated in Win8 and that is sucky stuff. Even if avast! detects there is an update but Windows Update decides that you shouldn’t yet get the update, you won’t get it. Kinda lame…
I have removed both ticks from Software Updater on the settings list. It made no diffrence. Still did its own thing.
There is also an Updates section. I have set that to manual. Hopfully that will stop avast. All the software these days has it’s own update facility. I wanted avast for antivirus only. Not to do the work of all the ofther software onmmy computer. Microsoft updates the time on a computer when the clocks go forward/back. Maybe this is a job for Avast also.
No this is just plain silly. What I did yesterday is to click on the mini Icon Avast in the windows tool tray (bottom right). I clicked on settings at the Avast window top right. Select Software updater and remove both the ticks for updating.
Now when I got to control pannel Programs and features (Windows 7). Avast Install/Uninstall. there is a tick in the software update. WHAT is the diffrence?
Just got to Programs and Features and remove the Software Updater from there…
