Folders disappeared after removing trojan

I used Avast to remove Trojan infecting a external hard drive. Successful but now all the folders containing files have disappeared. When I run avast I see it checking all the files, but I can’t access them. Any ideas? Thanks

well i had this problem a few times and the only thing that i tried was to add the name of the folder in the address bar along with the drive extension (ie; F:\ (Name of the folder)) and the files were there, but i’m not sure about a permanent fix to this

There they all were! So I just made new folders on my harddrive and moved them across! The missus will be pleased, all our photos and video!

it is possible that Essexboy have a fix for this …rogue killer may restore your shortcuts/folders
anyway i send him a PM so he will have a look when he arrive here later (late) today

Yep RogueKiller was designed with this in mind

[*] Download RogueKiller and save it on your desktop.
[*]Quit all programs
[*] Start RogueKiller.exe.
[*] Wait until Prescan has finished …
[*] Click on Scan

Download OTL to your Desktop

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

[*]Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
