Hi
I am new to the forum but have used Avast for a couple of years and really like the program. Recently I got a Gmail account and noticed that when I send mails the Avast footer is missing i.e. the footer that advises the message is clean and checked by Avast etc. I assumed this was because Gmail is webmail, sent from the Google server so Avast couldn’t check it, so I made a new account in Outlook Express to enable me to send and receive the Gmail message from OE, thinking that Avast would now check the outbound mail and add the footer, but still no footer?
I did notice that the normal smtp settings are 25 but to send the Gmail messages it has to be set to 465 and secure server. I assume then that Avast only scans outbound mail on port 25 but I can find no settings to alter so that it will also scan port 465. It isn’t a major problem it just puzzles me and of course Avast does not get the usual publicity in my Gmails
I should add that I have all the boxes ticked for adding a footer and the footer is always there when I send normal mail with OE.
If anyone has an explanation or a fix I would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Humphrey
