I forgot my password Avast. Help!

You should write your passwords down somewhere so you dont forget, all you can do now is uninstall and re-install.

That is exactly why I keep a notebook just for passwords.
I use several different passwords.

It is not necessary to uninstall and re-install. All that is necessary is to delete aswResp.dat in safe mode. See http://www.raymond.cc/blog/reset-or-remove-avast-authorization-password-to-access-settings/

Interesting, I would also think this might be able to be achieved in normal mode if you disable avasts self protection first ??? i definitely would not be choosing there second option of installing iobit’s unlocker :

It should… but would it work in all systems all the time… The Safe Mode method should work…

It should… but would it work in all systems all the time… The Safe Mode method should work…

If Protection Control is enabled for the password, disabling the Avast shields won’t be possible if you’ve forgotten the password.
