I set a PIN but can’t remember what it is and did assign a recover phone number. I can’t seem to uninstall avast! (or access any settings) without the PIN. Do I have any options? I’m down to 3 more tries (then what?).
Please help.

Yes, device is associated with an avast! account.

you can log in to that account and change the PIN there if you have Anti-Theft installed as well (not sure right now if it works without the Anti-Theft, I don’t think it does).

not much you can do I’m afraid Factory reset would most definitely remove AMS, but I don’t think you would like do that. I suppose the device is not rooted, right? There might be some rooted options.

it is the Anti Theft (theft aware).
OK, let me summarize. You have installed AMS and AAT and you activated AAT, right? Then AAT has to be connected to some avast! Account, right?

true, but i don’t remember being asked to connect to an avast account.
OK, did you install Anti-Theft rooted?

If you want/need to un-install, go to settings–> Applications → Manage Applications → Avast
touch the ‘Clear Data’ button, and when the data has been cleared, you can un-install
(Worked for me on a Sony Xperia U)
its not just working,the application is in stealth mode can’t access it…guess will have to live with it.

If you didn’t install the Anti-Theft rooted, factory reset will delete it. Note that you will lose all your data doing so.
