Formal Legal Complaint and Notice of Regulatory Escalation – Unlawful Payment Demand

This email serves as a formal legal complaint and cease-and-desist notice regarding Avast’s continued and unwarranted payment demands.

Despite my Avast subscription being active and well within the stated 28-day valid period, I continue to receive repeated payment reminder emails and intrusive pop-up notifications asserting or implying that payment is due. These communications are factually inaccurate, misleading, and harassing.

Such conduct may constitute:

  • Deceptive and misleading commercial practices

  • Unfair pressure tactics toward consumers

  • False representations regarding account status

This behaviour is unacceptable and must stop immediately.

I hereby demand the following corrective actions:

  1. Immediate cessation of all payment-related emails and pop-up notifications while my subscription remains active

  2. Written confirmation that my account status is correctly reflected and that no payment is currently due

  3. Assurance that Avast will not engage in similar conduct going forward

Failure to resolve this matter promptly will result in immediate cancellation of my subscription and migration to a competing security provider, including Kaspersky.

Furthermore, please be advised that if these practices continue, I will escalate this complaint by formally notifying and CC’ing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as this conduct may violate U.S. consumer protection and unfair trade practice regulations.

This notice is sent in good faith and provides Avast the opportunity to correct the issue before regulatory escalation. I expect a prompt written response confirming resolution.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

This is a community forum so you are more likely to encounter avast users.

I have no idea what you have tried to A: Cancel your payment mandate, B: the reminders and payment from memory (and being a free user)can be taken up to 28 days in advance of the due date.

Cancelling automatic renewal of the Avast subscription

I have tried to attract some attention to this in an other area of the community forum.

Simple solution, Uninstall Avast.
Common sense advice never sign up for a ‘FREE’ trial that requires giving your Credit Card information.

Thank you for the common sense advice which does not apply in my case because my subscription is not Free , it is a paid Avast Ultimate (Multi-Device) subscription !
