Is there a way with this board to “tag” a thread and save it as a personal favorite?
Some other forums I use have that, but I have not located how to do it here.

There is nothing to stop you bookmarking a topic.
You can also click the Notify button at the bottom of the page and you will get an email when new posts are added. Any Topic you create or contribute to you would automatically be notified of new posts.
