Forum Spam

On some forums you need a certain amount of post before you are allowed to post links, wouldn’t that help against this forum spam?

wondering what’s up with moderation lately…

The first thing I do is hit the “report to moderator” button. There usually gone pretty quick after that.

done for a while now.

edit: OK it’s gone.

this forum is visible to all those spammers… don’t you think pondus?.. you got it didn’t you?..

Links to what is the key question ?

As blocking links would kind of defeat the purpose of a security based support forum. So you have to remember any measures to combat spammers shouldn’t be too onerous on the legitimate users seeking help.

As has been mentioned the ‘Report to moderator’ is a very effective means of dealing with spam. You also have to consider that the forums don’t get anything like the amount of spam other forums do, so any measures/response has to be proportionate.

If you check your link again, you will find it has already gone and that isn’t too shabby.

if you check my last post here you’ll see that I mentioned it; it just took a while. It went away when vlk logged in. Otherwise there was no one there to take care of it. The spam/scam post has lived at least 30 minutes on the forums…more than enough to provoke disasters on unaware users’ systems. Sounds like the mods here are the devs…which explains it. They can’t work and moderate at the same time.

From 2-3 days, the moderation has improved. I have seen better response to reports, atleast made by me.
