I keep having my cursor move and open files, close tabs on my browser (even in safe mode with networking).
Other antivirus programs will not run in conjunction with avast. Avast free will not detect anything else, and i have run it in bootscan mode. I tried running bitdefender, and some version of kapersky. I tried something called unhackme, but to find rootkits, it needs some cd. I have tried various programs to detect rats. I have not found what is going on. I have purchased a new laptop to transfer data since the current one seems to have a problematic battery, and constantly needs the adapter reset, and this virus issue that cannot be detected, and this battery issue. I have decided that i should resolve this hack that seems to be a virus, and transfer everything, but I need to find out what it must be. Please advise how I can find it and resolve it. Avast is not detecting it.
I do not even know how the trojans got on my laptop to begin with, besides a possible phishing e-mail that took me to a website that looked like a consumer reports website with a real domain to unsubscribe. Please advise.
I have also purchased the new laptop prior due to hardware issues. Windows 10 updates had caused hardware compatibility issues. But hopefully this issue can be resolved.
malware bytes doesn’t detect anything. i only have the free version. i have heard that farbar can cause problems if i don’t know how to use it. Is MCShield only for USB drives? I cannot save anything to my desktop, as it has too many icons. Can I save things to my documents folder? does it make a difference?
Farbar’s scan mode will not cause problems. Do not attempt to run any ‘fixes’ (which require a fixlist.txt file) unless provided to you by someone senior on the forums. Please post your MBAM log anyways (free mode is fine)
i ran malware bytes, but i did not see an advanced tab. i have a txt file, and it does not say anything about any problems. I can name it “Mbam” as i named it “malwarebytes.” i can try to install farbar and attach a log after scanning.
Unfortunate, but these qualified malware removal specialists have to keep active, to maintain qualification and learning of new attack vectors. From a long time ago when there was a lot of action for them. Now it is a rare occasion to see a malware removal need in the forums. Unfortunate that we have to send victims to other sources of qualified malware removal specialists.
In another way it does tend to indicate less Avast users being victims of malware.
have they left completely, or did they just leave yesterday for the day? I thought i posted the information here yesterday, but it seems like it was removed. The malwarebytes staff said they want me to uninstall avast and zone alarm, disable windows defender, and uninstall other detecting software, and things that may just be referenced on my laptop, but not installed. I am not really getting help yet, but i think software that quarantined viruses should not be removed. i also posted on microsoft volunteer communities. i asked on a question site called quora, but most advice is what i already did, and other advice is factory reset. i really would like to get help to try to remove whatever is allowing somebody to what seems to be some sort of remote access.
Because of the lack of cases reported in the forums, they weren’t here very often. Many of them frequented multiple sites, so effectively there were at the sites with regular activity.
So no they haven’t left just for the day. Very occasionally one or two may be back, but that isn’t a basis to hope one comes along when your need is urgent.
