FP Sateira 2.13 and ScbAudio.exe ?

Hi,

Avast! flags my Sateira CD burning application (file version 2.13) as:

W32:Trojan-gen{other}

I downloaded it in 2005 from the company’s Website and have a licence for it.

Using VirusTotal, only Avast flags it. I also scanned it with AdAware 2008, AVG Antispyware 7.5, and ZoneAlarm Antispyware. All came clean.

It looks to me like a FP.

Additionally, Avast flags a component of Sateira (ScbAudio.exe), also as W32:Trojan-gen{other}.

Is there any way to submit such a file to Avast! so check if it is really a FP?

Thank you.

Y.

If it is indeed a false positive (likely given the VT result), see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34950.msg293451#msg293451, how to report it to avast! and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

Hi, David,

Your help is much appreciated.

Two suggestions, though:

  1. The thread you referred me to, about FPs, should be a sticky (FAQ).

  2. If would be nice if, instead of having to use e-mail, ALWIL provided a Web page to upload and report suspected FPs.

Again, thank you.

They’ve promised this ago… a new submission process… it’s a pity (or a shame) that we haven’t make much progress on it…

No problem, glad I could help.

  1. Outside of my control, but this is in many topics and the forum search function would return many hits. I guess the forum administrators don’t want to have many stickies which on some forums take up a large amount of the first page of topics.

  2. As Tech mentioned there should be another submission method being developed. I believe that may be incorporated in version 5 of avast. That I get from reading between the lines of several topics relating to version 5 and submission of samples, this reading between the lines is subject to wide inaccuracy based on my hopes though ;D

Welcome to the forums.
