Hi. I am French but I am preparing a laptop for a friend who lives far away from me AND
- is not very computer litterate
- is not very good at French (not at all in English)
- has not enough money for a some higher version of Avast
I tried to install the free antivirus version. It runs fine, says the PC (Windows 11) is protected but it keeps firing red flashing notifications for danger and asks for paid-up versions. This would stress my friend. I do not want these constant daily notifications to appear. Please help me configure Avast to avoid this. Thank you for your understanding.
Enable Limited Mode. That cuts back a lot on fearmongering popups.
There will still be ‘alarming problems’ shown in the main GUI. It is the Free Version after all and you’ll have to accept an amount of upselling tactics. Avast will try to scare people into buying their premium software.
Edit: I see you posted this in the Avast One subforum. My advice refers to Avast Free. A different product. I don’t know if Avast One has Limited Mode. Maybe consider using Avast Free for your friend.
Thanks a lot for your advice and information. I had installed Avast Free but I probably chose the wrong forum. SO thanks for letting me know and I will apply what you suggest. Wishing you a very good week-end !
