Will free Avast 5.0 version function on Window’s 95b system?
How can I upgrade to free Avast 5.0 version from free Avast 4.8 version? Are there any negatives?
No, I’m afraid avast! 5 does not support Windows 9x anymore.
No avast 5 will not work on that system, the only av that might work would be clamwin av http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/18/46/ but after looking at the site i dont think that will either, looks like you might be up for an upgrade
Unfortunately, anyone with a 9x system is very up for an upgrade.
Who in 2010 would be forced to use win95 ?
I know in some factories, some old robots require 95 but damn, we are far from this time.
ClamWin AV http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/71/1/ will work for those with 95, however it is NOT a resident AV like Avast (it is an on-demand scanner). So if a user cannot afford to upgrade or purchase a new machine, this would be better than nothing.
Hmmm… Not sure if W95 is still supported…!? :-

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus program for Microsoft Windows 7 / Vista / XP / Me / 2000 / 98 and Windows Server 2008 and 2003.
According to their web site it is.
Your link produces a not found page.
Where did you see this info, SafeSurf…??
I can’t find it on their site…
Thanks,

This is what i found on their site :
“ClamWin is a Free Antivirus program for Microsoft Windows 7 / Vista / XP / Me / 2000 / 98 and Windows Server 2008 and 2003.”
So it does not support Win95.
Win95…oops…time for new glasses. Sorry about that. :-X
Win 95b is Win 95 OSR 2.5b, which is Win 98 pre-release version ClamWin and ClamSentinel will work on this OS with a VBRUN 6 update, and a VC6 update.
